    What is Bone Conduction

Bone conduction technology means that audio signals are converted into vibrations which are directly transmitted into the cochlea of the inner ear without passing through the outer or middle ear. The vibrations don't interfere with audio reaching your ear by air conduction so you can continue to hear conversations, traffic, or the sounds of nature while you listen to your music.

    Make Calls and More

Switch easily between music and calls with the built-in microphone. The kBone enables you to answer and end calls directly from the headset.

    QUESTION

In my family, there is an hearing impaired person. His body rejected a titanium-screwed device (screwed into the skull). We thought that's the end. Please, let me know the circumstances in which this device can be helpful. Something with a functioning cochlea? I understand it has a microphone. Does it have two microphones? One for each ear?

    ANSWER

Because the kBone uses bone conduction, the user must have one functioning cochlea for the headset to work. The headset has two pads: they sit on the boney portion on each side of the face, just in front of each ear canal. Sound is conducted from each pad to the boney portion of the face in front of each ear canal and then to the cochlea. There is a microphone on the left ear pad through which the user can speak to have a conversation using his cell phone (assuming the KBone has been paired with the cell phone via bluetooth). The following are a couple of scenarios where we have had success using the kBone: I have a couple of relatives with hearing loss who use hearing aids and have tried the kBone. They have been able to use it to better hear music & to better hear conversations on their cell phones. I purchased a bluetooth transmitter for my television. I plugged the transmitter into my television’s audio output. With the television on & the transmitter on, I was able to pair my kBone headset with the transmitter and hear the television through the kBone headset. We are still experimenting with using the kBone with a microphone (a microphone like someone giving a speech would use). We have not yet found a stand-alone microphone that the kBone can be used with because the microphone needs to be bluetooth enabled. We have ordered (and not yet received) a microphone that we are hoping the kBone will work with.

    QUESTION

Does the kBone work with Siri?

    ANSWER

Yes, the headset works with Siri. It is a standard Bluetooth headset.

To activate Siri and issue a voice command, you typically need to press and hold down the iPhone's Home button for a second or two, until the Siri prompt is displayed and the activation tone is heard. You can then speak your command, question, or dictation.

    QUESTION

Could you go for a jog or serious running (Up too 2 hours) with these headphones?

    ANSWER

Yes. The kBone is optimized for runners and joggers. With its design combining Bluetooth 4.1 and a neck band that rests behind your head, you won't worry about wires tangling in your clothes. It's made of titanium and is really flexible, securely fit and lightweight. With the bone conduction technology meaning the pads rest on your cheek bones, you won't have speakers falling out of your ears. The play time is up to six to eight hours. And with IPX6 waterproof rating, if you're caught in a rain shower, you won't need to worry about your kBone, and you won't worry about working up a sweat.

    QUESTION

Is this any good for podcasts, don't listen to much music so will I be able to hear spoken word material over outside ambient noise

    ANSWER

With the kBone, you'll be able to hear podcasts clearly. While the kBone is optimized so that you can hear background sounds while you listen to your podcasts or music, we also include ear plugs that you can use to reduce background noise for times when you want to focus on the sound transmitted through your kBone.

    QUESTION

    Is it water proof?

    ANSWER

The Koar kBone is rated IPX6. That means the kBone will withstand heavy splashing and rain and water jets. And that's good in downpours -- even if you'd rather not be caught in them!

    QUESTION

What to Do When Your Bluetooth-Enabled Devices Aren’t Connecting?

    ANSWER

    1. Determine how your device pairs. The process can be different from product to product. It might mean entering a code into your phone. Sometimes you will hold down a button on the receiving device (eg., speaker or headset) to pair with the phone or tablet.
    2. Make sure the two devices that you’re trying to pair are near each other.
    3. Power off both devices and turn them back on. A soft re-set can resolve some pairing issues.
    4. Determine whether Bluetooth is turned on on your transmitting device (phone, tablet, etc.). You’ll generally be able to check this in your phone or tablet’s settings screen. If Bluetooth is enabled, you should see a Bluetooth symbol at the top of your phone or tablet’s screen.
    5. On your phone or tablet, turn on discoverable mode. This tells your receiver (eg., speaker or headset) that your phone or tablet is ready to pair. Then depress the pairing button on your speaker, headset or mouse to instruct your speaker or headset to look for your phone or tablet. Some devices may ask for a numeric code to confirm pairing. Please note that discoverable mode will last only a short time.. Depending on how long you take, you may need to re-start this process.
    6. Turn off devices that may be interfering with your connection. For example, if you’re trying to pair a headset with your phone, and your tablet is nearby, either turn the tablet off, or simply turn Bluetooth mode off in the settings section. This will prevent your headset from trying to connect with your tablet instead of your phone.
    7. Charge both devices you’re trying to pair. This may resolve a problem of Bluetooth being turned off as part of your device’s power management.
    8. Delete your device from your phone or tablet and initiate pairing again. To do this in Android, tap on the device’s name and “Unpair.” To do this in iOS, go to settings and tap on the device’s name, then “Forget this Device.”
    9. Make sure the devices you want to pair are designed to work with each other. Some devices are designed to connect only to specific profiles.
    10. Update the firmware on your phone or tablet. Sometimes you may need updated firmware in order to pair, and updating the firmware can resolve this issue. If you’re not sure how to do this, contact the manufacturer of your phone or tablet.
    11. Download a new driver. If you’re trying to pair a device with a PC, your PC may need a specific driver. You can search online for your type of device along with the word “driver.”
    12. Move away from your wifi router. Sometimes your wifi router may be using the same spectrum as your Bluetooth, and moving away can help resolve this issue.
    13. Move away from a USB 3.0 port.
